A sustainable and reliable partner to mobility and urbanization megatrends

LANXESS at Chinaplas 2012 April 18- 21, Booth Number: N1E01

Shanghai, April 18, 2012 - Specialty chemicals company LANXESS, one of the world’s largest producers of iron oxide pigments, demonstrates its continued commitment to being a sustainable supplier and a reliable partner to mobility and urbanization megatrends at the Chinaplas 2012. This important industrial trade fare takes place in Shanghai, China from April 18 to 21.

Inorganic pigments of the Bayferrox®- and Colortherm®-series from LANXESS display high color strength, are extremely lightfast and weather-resistant. They are characterized by their high quality and simple as well as environmentally friendly processing. They are available as powders, slurries, free-flowing compact pigments or granules and are used to color materials primarily for the coatings and plastic industry

According to Dr. Wolfgang Oehlert, Vice President of LANXESS Inorganic Pigments business in Asia Pacific, “The decisive advantages of our high-performance inorganic pigments are their tight tolerances with respect to shade and tinting strength. This makes color reproduction when formulating master batches, colorants or paints faster, easier and more reliable. This helps to reduce shading work to a minimum.” In addition, these pigments are characterized by an unmatched dispersibility, which is achieved through micronization, a very intensive form of grinding, resulting in a significant reduction in the proportion of pigment aggregates in the product.”

The iron oxide reds of the Bayferrox® 100 line cover the broadest range of hues, extending from a yellowish cast to a distinctly bluish shade.  The excellent quality consistency of these Bayferrox grades provides a reliable basis for all customers whose products have to comply with very tight and consistent color specifications over long periods.

The Colortherm® series were specifically developed for high-temperature demanding applications and show unmatched color stability during the plastics extrusion processes.  The product Colortherm® Yellow 30, for example, is a yellowish tan shade pigment that can resist heat up to 300 degrees Celsius.

“Chinese markets, especially the high end application sectors in the plastics industry, are very important for LANXESS Inorganic Pigments’ sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific region,” says Dr. Oehlert. “We strongly support rapid urbanization and growth in mobility in China by investing in process efficiency and capacity expansion in all our production sites.”

“Our business sees a continued strong demand in 2012 for high quality iron oxide pigments and especially chrome oxide pigments of the Colortherm® Green range. All of our production plants are running at full capacity to ensure reliable supply throughout the year 2012”, added Oehlert.
