Dark or bluish black mascara, grey eyeliner, green eye shadow or red lipsticks, all of these products can contain iron or chromium oxide pigments for coloration. In all products for decorative cosmetics compatibility with the skin is of utmost importance.

LANXESS offers the Z-Grade pigment range for cosmetic applications. They are specially developed for such applications, where colored products are in direct contact with human skin. Both Bayferrox® and Colortherm® Z-Grades are subject to special test procedures and fulfill the highest dermatological standards.

In general all LANXESS iron oxide pigments are non-hazardous. In chemical terms, they are comparable with naturally occurring iron oxides. With regard to their color, however, they are superior to their natural counterparts because of their higher purity and their particle morphology.

In the production process of the Z-Grades LANXESS uses only selected raw materials with high purity. These products fulfill all legal requirements of the cosmetics industry.
