Innovation & Solutions

Innovation based on research & development and collaboration with customers on specific issues – just two examples of what LANXESS Inorganic Pigments regards as its expertise.

From continuous technical support on all issues relating to the use of pigments in our customers’ processes to joint solution development for complex issues – the Global Competence Centers at LANXESS Inorganic Pigments offer customers worldwide a vast bank of specialist expertise.

For example, the Global Competence Center Construction examines issues relating to mixing and metering technology. It also offers customers around the world full support in installing pigment metering plants, from the planning stage right through to completion. It helps with everything from the very first steps in planning to the selection of a skilled mechanical engineering company.

The often complex issues that surround high-quality paint and coating systems are covered internationally by specialists at the Global Competence Center Paint. It is not unusual for specialists from Germany to travel to customers in various different countries to develop a customized solution on site. Furthermore, these experts do not look at the pigment in isolation, but take into account the customer’s full recipe, since it is only by understanding how all the components work together that they can provide customers worldwide with sound advice.

The Global Competence Center Specialties offers specialist advice and works on joint projects with customers. In technical application areas in particular, issues can arise that demand a customized solution, or can only be resolved through a joint project. In these cases, it is the research and development department of LANXESS Inorganic Pigments that often steps up to the plate. A number of today’s specialty application areas stem from collaborations such as these.

LANXESS Inorganic Pigments invests significant sums in research & development. This has enabled us, for example, to develop water-soluble packaging and pigments in granular form, both of which offer significant advantages for work hygiene and make processing much easier for our customers. However, we are continuously researching innovative application areas that extend far beyond the use of iron oxide and chrome oxide pigments for coloring alone. For example, a product has been developed to remove arsenic from drinking water and it has been discovered that LANXESS iron oxides offer significant benefits in the removal of sulfur from biogas.
