Bayoxide® C in refractories

Chromium oxide green pigments can be used for production of refractory bricks

Bayoxide® C GN-R has numerous applications in the refractory industry. They are applied in the production of shaped and ground bricks from virtually pure chromium oxide (Cr2O3) which are used in glass furnaces. They can also be used with aluminum oxides in shaped bricks for use in the steel industry.

In the glass industry and sectors of the chemical industry smelted refractory products are often used. They are based on oxidic systems made of chromium oxide mixed with zirconium oxide (ZrO2), silicon dioxide (SiO2), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), and manganese oxide (MgO).

Chromium oxides are also used in combination with other oxides (Al2O3, SiO2, MgO) for the manufacture of pressed bricks which are used in furnace linings.

With Bayoxide® C GN-R LANXESS has developed a well established product in the refractory industry. It stands out from competing products because of its unique morphological and surface chemistry properties, which allow the manufacture of very high density green bodies and, thereby, the manufacture of bricks with very high stability.

Unlike alternative products, bricks containing chromium oxide can be used for up to ten years and can be a very cost effective solution.

The Global Competence Center Specialties will gladly answer individual customer inquiries with respect to this field of application or provide further information about LANXESS pigments.
